Weekly All-Star Team - Week 5

Cal's take on an All-Star team based on week 5 performances.

C - Will D Smith, DEN - 5-11, 1 HR, 1 2B, 6 BB, 2 RBI, 6 R
It was a dead heat between Smith, d'Arnaud, and Kirk this week. Smith finished .002 points ahead of the tie for second place.

1B - Dominic Smith, LMM - 6-18, 3 HR, 1 3B, 2 2B, 8 RBI, 4 R
Smith flexed on Jose Abreu and the Moose this week with six extra base hits.

2B - Mike Moustakas, SPP - 5-11, 2 HR, 1 BB, 4 RBI, 3 R
Moustakas squeaked out the win this week over Cano with a 1.571 OPS.

3B - Alex Bregman, FF - 6-14, 2 HR, 2 2B, 1 BB, 4 RBI, 3 R
Bregman ran away with the third base spot this week despite the low run production.

SS - Corey Seager, SPP - 8-15, 2 HR, 3 2B, 1 BB, 5 RBI, 4 R
I considered memeing here by listing any other shortstop, but Seager was a man among boys at short this week.

LF - DJ Stewart, QC - 3-12, 2 HR, 4 BB, 7 RBI, 5 R
Stewart was a textbook example of quality over quantity. He made the most of his three hits producing 12 runs.

CF - Byron Buxton, MKE - 7-19, 5 HR, 2 BB, 6 RBI, 7 R
Buxton was mashing for the cows this week with a league-leading five dingers.

RF - Ronald Acuna Jr, WV - 5-14, 2 HR, 2 2B, 7 BB, 5 RBI, 8 R
Ronald had an insane .591 OBP while producing 13 runs for WV and he ran away with the RF spot.

*DH - Sam Huff, MKE - 11-18, 3 HR, 2 2B, 1 BB, 9 RBI, 3 R
Huff finally saw the breakout we've all been waiting for with a .611 average and .783 wOBA. He was named weekly captain with the highest aggregate score (hence the *).

P #1 - Trevor Bauer, QC - 8.0 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 15 SO
Bauer is the only pitcher on this list who gave up a run, but the top spot is well earned with 15 Ks over 8 innings.

P #2 - Tejay Antone, TK - 6.0 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 10 SO
You can make an argument for Antone over Bauer, but with two fewer innings, Antone's performance is good for second place.

P #3 - Dean Kremer, TK - 7.0 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 8 SO
The most unlikely player to make this list, Tokyo's Dean Kremer had a marvelous outing giving up just one hit over 7 innings.

P #4 - Lucas Giolito, JJG - 5.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 8 SO
Giolito had a short, 5-inning start this week and was later placed on the IL. It was still a very dominant performance and a well-earned spot in the top five.

P #5 - Justus Sheffield, SPP - 8.0 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 5 SO
Parrots fans will decry their starter only placing fifth, but he needed a lot of help from his defense this week. Regardless, it was a fantastic start by Sheffield.
