Weekly All-Star Team - Week 10
Cal's take on an All-Star team based on week 10 performances.
C - Alejandro Kirk, JJG - 8-19, 1 HR, 3 2B, 4 RBI, 2 R, 4-4 X-Ch, 1 PB, 163 ODA+
Kirk batted over .420 this week knocking in four runs. His only misstep on either side of the ball was a single passed ball.
1B - Paul Goldschmidt, TK - 5-17, 1 HR, 2 2B, 3 RBI, 5 R, 2-2 X-Ch, 161 ODA+
Goldy squeaked out the lead this week by a single ODA+ point over LeMahieu. They were comparable in rate stats, though he was slightly behind, but Goldy's D gave him the leg up.
2B - Luis Guillorme, SBB - 6-15, 1 2B, 5 R, 2-3 X-Ch, 146 ODA+
Three second basemen finished within a single point of each other this week. Guillorme took the top spot with his .400 average, but Cano and Panik each finished the week with 145 ODA+.
3B - Anthony Rendon, MKE - 5-17, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 5 R, 2-3 X-Ch, 163 ODA+
Rendon hit two dingers this week, but it was his glove that gave him the edge. La Stella outbatted him this week, but Rendon takes the combined win.
SS - Amed Rosario, QC - 6-11, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 4 R, 5-7 X-Ch, 195 ODA+
Second base may have been a closer race, but shortstop had four players with a 170 ODA+ or higher. Rosario took the top spot with a .603 wOBA and a decent glove.
*LF - Mark Mathias, WV - 10-17, 6 2B, 6 RBI, 6 R, 1-1 X-Ch, 221 ODA+
Mathias got some unexpected reps in left field this week and made the most of them. He produced twelve runs on sixteen total bases.
CF - Adam Engel, SBB - 10-18, 2 HR, 3 2B, 5 RBI, 4 R, 5-6 X-Ch, 219 ODA+
Engel had the rare power stroke working this week, tacking two homers on to three doubles. Locastro gave him a run for his money, but Engel's 1.056 slugging was far and away the best.
RF - Jesse Winker, QC - 5-15, 1 HR, 4 2B, 5 RBI, 5 R, 0-2 X-Ch, 174 ODA+
In another one-point race, Jesse Winker earns the nod in right field with all five of his hits going for extra bases.
DH - Sam Huff, MKE - 6-13, 2 HR, 1 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R, 147 ODA+
Huff drew four walks - one intentional - this week and still managed to produce nine runs. He took the top spot by a decent margin with Gomes and the bad man over 10 points behind.
P #1 - Devin Williams, DEN - 6.0 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 9 SO, 250 DOM+
It can't get much better for the Denver reliever. Williams walked two batters, but stranded them both with a dominant nine-strikeout week.
P #2 - Tony Gonsolin, LV - 7.0 IP, 0 R, 3 H, 9 SO, 199 DOM+
Gonsolin cranked out another seven-inning start, this time giving up no runs en-route to a 2-0 Bandit victory.
P #3 - Kevin Gausman, LMM - 6.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 9 SO, 197 DOM+
Coming in a close third, Gausman threw six great innings across two games for Los Muertos. He continues the nine-strikeout motif for pitchers in his first weekly all-star appearance.
P #4 - Brandon Woodruff, LV - 7.0 IP, 0 R, 4 H, 7 SO, 189 DOM+
Another Bandit starter makes the top five. He also went seven innings, but breaks the nine K streak. We'll cut him some slack since he did it against the Angels.
P #5 - Trevor Cahill, DEN - 5.0 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 0 H, 7 SO, 186 DOM+
Apparently the Zephyr have real starters now and Cahill turned in a fantastic five-inning start. The bats backed him up and he earned the win in game 2.
