Monthly Trash Cans (Month 2)
C - Yadier Molina, JJG - 4/25, 5 Ks, .160/.222/.440 - 1/3 xCH, 1/4 CS
Yadi is oft touted as the defensive standard for catchers, yet he's failed 67% of his checks and only caught one baserunner this month. Add in his slash line and you've got yourself a trash can.
1B - Taylor Ward, QC - 2/27, 11 Ks, .074/.242/.111
First base is a premium offensive position, and 2/27 provides the opposite of that. He only contributed to one run, despite the Questants having a solid month as a team. Imagine if they had a less trash first baseman.
2B - Jazz Chisholm, FF - 4/27, 12 Ks, .148/.233/.296
DJ Jazzy C did not do good baseballing in month 2, which probably contributes to why he is currently packing his bags and leaving Florida.
3B - The Denver Zephyr - 0/42, 15 Ks, .000/.071/.000
For the first time in the Trash Teams admittedly short history, rather than giving this award to one player, I'm naming the entire roster of Zephyr 3Bs the trash team all star. Lead by since-released Eugenio Suarez and his 0/26 month, the Zephyr corner put up an impressive 0/42 with 3 walks on the month.
SS - Paul DeJong, PBW - 4/32, 13 Ks, .125/.200/.125
At least he made 11/15 x-checks? Trash.
LF - Bryan Reynolds, GLA - 2/27, 10 Ks, .074/.167/.074
Were it not for Denver's third base woes, Reynolds would've ran away with Trash Can of the Month dishonors, batting below .100 and contributing to zero runs this month.
CF - Randal Grichuk, TK - 4/24, 5 Ks, .167/.200/.292
Grichuk was an honorable mention on the Trash Team last month and managed to "improve" on that by making the team this month. The Kaiju may be better off doing literally anything else here.
RF - Mike Yastrzemski, BSG - 3/25, 8 Ks, .120/.214/.240
Yaz had a lot of fanfare last season and for good reason. He seems to be riding his own legacy as good by continually playing while being this bad. He only failed one fielding check though, so I guess the dumpster here is only smoking at this point.
DH - None
The trashiest DH (Donovan Solano) still put up a .259/322/444 line and contributed to 14 runs, so I don't feel right calling him trash, yet.
