foxxWAR Week 2 Update

foxxWAR Week 2 Update

Time to take a look at the top Week 2 performances, and check in on the foxxWAR leader boards.

For the second week in a row, both the top pitcher and position player come from the same team. The difference this week is that both performances were historic. Gavin Lux was the most valuable position player with an unofficial, all-time record for single week foxxWAR. He got on base 15 times while driving in 6 runs and scoring another 8.

Lance Lynn was no less dominant during his complete game shut out. He logged an impressive foxxWAR total, the highest number so far this season. It's not possible to compare with previous seasons, as the formula for foxxWAR for pitchers has changed significantly with the new data, but you could probably count on one hand the numbers of outings that haved matched or exceeded Lynn's, and still have fingers left over.

Gavin Lux jumped into the #1 spot overall this season with the week 2 performance. Dylan Cease has been the #1 pitcher, and #2 player overall. It'll still likely be a few more weeks before this starts to stabilize, but some expected names are already starting to show up.

Speaking of expected names, who didn't have 1st round pick Joey Meneses penciled in as the worst position player in the league? Not exactly what you want to see.
