foxxWAR Leaders Through Week 8
Notes:
Ronald Acuna and Cody Bellinger, both Black Bears, are out this week. With a big week, a few players could make a play for the top of the oWAR category.
Will D Smith was out during week 8, yet still sits at #4 overall. If the top 4 holds, then each of the top 4 WAR leaders will have missed a week this season. These guys have been real good when they play.
Cody Bellinger tops the bsrWAR with only 2 SBs. You might be asking yourself “how is that possible?” The man is 7 for 7 when taking an extra base on a hit.
Despite Kiger’s rantings about how bad Trevor Story is, he has entered the top 10 in overall WAR and the top 10 in dWAR. Luckily for Story, the algorithm sees all errors as equal.
Gerrit Cole overtakes Erasmo Ramirez for the top spot for pitchers. Really incredible week for Cole in terms of WAR (+.34 in one game).
Super relievers may be taking a back seat to starting pitchers. Erasmo lost his top spot, Devin Williams dropped, and Lucas Sims and Tom Hatch are the only others making an appearance in the top 10. Just wait until week 10 when many aces take their week off and we may see some relievers bouncing back up the list.
Shane Bieber tops the list for average Game Score with 70. I don’t really know anything about Game Score but that seems pretty good to me.
After adding a simple minimum innings requirement, the top 10 average Game Score list is a who’s who of pitchers you would pretty much expect to be on such a list.
